Project Description:
The city of Kyzyl-Kiya is situated in the south of the Kyrgyz Republic and one of the big industrial centres in the region. Kyzyl-Kiya Water Company, a municipal enterprise wholly owned by the City, provides water supply services to the whole city.
In 2014, the City approached the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) with a request to finance the rehabilitation of the water supply improvements in the City. The Project will enable the Company to rehabilitate water supply services in the City. Investments are expected to reduce water losses, improve resilience to climate change and optimize operating costs for the Company.
Purpose and Objective of the Project
- Provide institution building support to the Company through corporate development, social support, and stakeholder participation programmes;
- Rehabilitation of water supply system and selected wastewater improvement;
- Improvement of the billing and collection efficiency;
- Improvement of the financial and operational management.
